Katherine Littrell and Eden Gabay present this Covid-era journey aboard the Orient Express, a celebration for Australian cancer survivor Joe Penfield, who is accompanied by his twin sister, Meredith. Spirited descriptions of luxurious decor and dining, along with an international cast, are Christie-esque. It's shocking when a blood-soaked body is found in a locked cabin and, because of their isolation, passengers are asked to assist with the investigation. The various murder theories offered are both intriguing and frightening. Both narrators splendidly evoke the story's warmth, humor, and tension. Most compelling and relatable is the unshakable support of the Penfield couple amid the quest to unmask the killer. Superb audio overcomes some plot predictability and repetition, as do the joys of Golden Age-style detective fiction. S.G.B. © AudioFile 2025, Portland, Maine [Published: OCTOBER 2025]
