HOW TO BE A SAINT An Extremely Weird and Mildly Sacrilegious History of the Catholic Churchs Biggest Names

by | Read by Kate Sidley

Contemporary Culture • 4.25 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2025

Although the process of achieving sainthood is steeped in tradition and legend, author/narrator Kate Sidley tackles explaining it. She injects a heavy dollop of humor in the form of quips as she separates fact from fiction. Basically, a person must die. There is a mandatory waiting period of five years before a person can even be nominated for sainthood. The deceased must then perform two miracles--it used to be three. However, if the departed was a martyr for his or her faith, only one miracle is needed. Sidley's presentations of legendary figures such as St. Patrick and St. Nicholas are laugh-out-loud hilarious. Her performance entertains listeners, but her information is accurate. The good news is that this is an enjoyable listen about a complex doctrine.E.E.S. © AudioFile 2025, Portland, Maine [Published: NOVEMBER 2025]
