SHADOWS IN THE MOONLIGHT Timeslider, Book 1

Genevieve Gaunt deftly conveys this time-travel/ghost story set in both 1895 and 2013. After a contemporary family unexpectedly inherits a mansion on the Cornish coast, they hear anguished crying nightly but find no obvious cause. Gaunt offers superb historical and contemporary speech patterns and outstanding voices for the young. The family consults Pixie Tate, a "time slider" who helps spirits that are adrift find their way. Pixie time slides to 1895 and discovers gentle Cordelia grieving for her mysteriously lost son. Gaunt superbly portrays both women. When Cordelia meets cruel Ivan, the original homeowner, she believes his poorly treated workers know what happened to Felix. The audio format enhances the story's enjoyment and clarifies potentially confusing time-shifts, particularly Pixie's compelling time sliding. S.G.B.
