INNER SPACE

Sophie Amoss narrates this intriguing mystery set primarily onboard the International Space Station. Though Commander Lucy Poplasky had mused about making her mark during her mission, she never dreamed she'd find herself investigating sabotage. After an ammonia leak threatens the station's crew, Lucy must discover whether it was caused by their Russian counterparts or by a fellow American. Amoss balances the scientific descriptions of life and work in space with the personalities and dialogue of the characters. Lucy is portrayed as outwardly in control but inwardly filled with anxiety about how to navigate a no-win situation. Amoss deftly handles brief switches to the points of view of secondary characters, as well as the transcript of a future governmental inquiry into the incident.
