A TOWN CALLED POTATO Galactic Detective Agency, Book 1

by | Read by Tim Ratliff

Science Fiction • 8.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2020

Tim Ratliff outdoes himself with his narration of this mystery/sci-fi/comedy mash-up. Because of his love of Agatha Christie and Rex Stout mysteries, appealing and relatable detective Gabriel Lake is approached by an extraterrestrial to find an abducted 20-foot-tall princess named Ralph. Lake blasts into space for his assignment. Ratliff delivers laugh-out-loud wordplay, jokes, and goofy names as listeners learn snippets about the universe and extraterrestrial life-forms. Ratliff's sound effects and dramatically delivered adjectives, such as a "creeeeeeaaking door," add laughs and a little realism. The most fun is the characters' return to Indiana, which gives the locals an unexpected thrill. The audio format provides listeners with loads of worldly and otherworldly adventures and voices, all adding up to a delightful one-of-a-kind listening experience.
