First, narrator Hillary Huber delivers a short profile by official Harper Lee biographer Casey Cep. Then, award-winning actor Ellen Burstyn performs stories, essays, and articles by Lee, some of which were published in leading magazines of her day. These latter works, some clearly early drafts, are narrated in Burstyn's sharp, expressive voice and feature many of the characters who would later appear in Lee's two longer works, GO SET A WATCHMAN, which later turned into the Pulitzer Prize-winning TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. Lee's inimitable literary voice takes on the American South, along with her thoughts on life in New York City. As narrator, Ellen Burstyn situates Harper Lee's short works in their time and place.
