Anne of Austria, a historical fiction, is based on the life of Anne in the years before she assumed the Regency of France for her young son, Louis XIV. The account chronicles her unhappy marriage to Louis XIII and her rejection of a tumultuous relationship with Cardinal Richelieu, the most powerful man in the kingdom.
