Heather Wells, former pop star, now assistant dorm director at a New York City college, investigates the murder of a cheerleader, whose head was left on a stove in the cafeteria. The rest of her body is nowhere to be found. Just what has Heather stumbled into? Kristin Kairos uses flat accents for the New York natives. She tries a Jamaican lilt for a drug dealer and a Texas twang for Heather's boss. The story is a snowy romp around the city--from dorm to frat house to Heather's apartment.
