THE APPLES OF THE HESPERIDES

Nobody wants us to understand these stories. They are told as anecdotes. They are rushed. They are cut down to miniature mysteries. They are frenzied and unsettling. They did want us to hear Daniel Massey and his many voices and dialects. He is good. He is a perfect Hercule Poirot, a prissy schoolmarm, an effusive Russian.
