HEAVEN, TEXAS

A nursing home administrator from Ohio makes a career change to the film industry and is assigned to deliver a temperamental star to the set. Naturally, the two hate each other on sight and, of course, then eventually fall deeply in love. Anna Fields invests the predictable plot with a sense of fun, rendering caricatures into nearly believable people. Fields's dry and edgy voice reflects a touch of humor as she attempts a Texas drawl, leaving the listener wondering whether her version of the accent is less than perfect by accident or design. Her pacing maintains a measured tempo throughout, even during the book's climactic chase sequence, leaving no doubt as to the outcome.
