THE INVISIBLE MAN

by | Read by Edward Hardwicke

Science Fiction • 5.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1897

Edward Hardwicke, who played Dr. Watson in the BBC "Sherlock Holmes" television series, reads with mounting excitement the classic tale of a man driven toward insanity by self-induced invisibility. Every character is sharply delineated--the invisible man, for example, has a harsh, strong, impatient voice, while the tramp he briefly enslaves sounds befuddled and, finally, terror-stricken. The last attempted victim speaks with cultured and learned intonations because, after all, he is a Doctor of Medicine. Hardwicke is ideal in this role, and the listener is richly rewarded because of this performance. D.W. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: JUN 97]
