Denby's mission to provide a history of snarking (making snide remarks) and its place in contemporary society is impressively handled by William Dufris, whose deep, gentle voice easily engages the listener. Dufris vocally balances the author’s two-pronged approach, which provides an informative discussion on the nature of snark as well as examples of snark in the form of tongue-in-cheek jests and scowls at would-be contemporary snarkers. Dufris's tone adds an element of sophistication to the book. While the history is a bit sparse and even the concept a bit loose, Denby does illuminate the current landscape of subtle insults and innuendo that plague our public forums.
