ITCH

Angela Rogers narrates this moving coming-of-age story, set in 1968. Rogers allows listeners to experience the emotional upheaval felt by sixth-grader Delores "Itch" Colchester after the death of her beloved grandfather. Forced to relocate from their home in Beaver Creek, Florida, to a small town in Ohio, Itch and her grandmother try to get on with their lives. When Itch discovers that her new friend, Wendy, has a dark secret, she gains the courage to speak up by remembering her late grandfather's sage advice. Rogers characterizes Itch with a soft-spoken Southern drawl that sets her apart from her new Ohio friends. Her rendition flawlessly captures the lyrical language of this beautifully written story.
