MULTICULTURAL TALES TO TELL

by | Read by Pleasant DeSpain

Storytelling • 104 min. • Audio Program • © 1994

Twenty folktales from countries around the world, including Denmark, Guatemala, Africa, Fiji and others make up this collection of "retellable" tales. Some are familiar, and many have a common thread with another country's fable, but it's an unusual collection. Pleasant DeSpain has a fine, appealing voice with great range for character voices, but he can also tell a compelling tale in his natural voice. This offers examples of telling styles, as well. Well-chosen music and some great sound effects are astutely added. Again, the simplicity of some of the sound effects suggests models for reuse. This program is a welcome addition and provides excellent resources for storytellers and listeners. R.F.W. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: OCT 94]
