Narrating this autobiographical guide to personal and professional growth, L.J. Ganser is thoroughly believable. However, his intense, authoritative interpretation sometimes sounds at odds with the author's soft message that we need more intimacy, generosity, vulnerability, and candor in our relationships at work. The author, a management consultant and trainer, says his own career didn't blossom until he opened up to a small group of mentors and shared his vulnerabilities and personal challenges. Ganser's style doesn't quite line up with author's working-class background and heroic achievements, which add pathos to his message. T.W. © AudioFile 2013, Portland, Maine [Published: DECEMBER 2013]
