NEVER LET THEM SEE YOU CRY

Crime reporter Edna Buchanan sees a side of Miami that one hopes the snowbirds miss. Articulate and fast-paced, the reading presents many of her stories in riveting detail. Reader Donada Peters distinguishes children's from adults' voices well. To a lesser extent, the listener is also aware of some difference between Hispanic and non-Hispanic voices. Although Peters mispronounces some regional names, only listeners from South Florida (like this reviewer) will notice. One wonders, however, why the publisher chose a reader with an intriguing British accent to portray a New Jerseyian turned Southerner. Either of these accents would have added to the reading.
