NIGHTFALL Body Snatchers

The CBC produced its popular NIGHTFALL series of half-hour spooky radio plays in the early '80s. "The Body Snatchers," based on an R. L.Stevenson story that became Val Lewton's best horror flick, exemplifies the work of series executive producer Bill Howell, now Toronto's best radio dramatist. Though the taste and polish that distinguish Howell's later work are absent from this effort, it is still an effective chiller. The second side contains an original mystery, "Beyond the Law," which is awkwardly written, badly acted and ineptly produced (not by Howell).
