ONE CHILD’S WAR

During the height of WWII, when she was 6, young Victoria Massey was sent from a small coastal town in England to Wales. She later finished out her childhood at home. The adult Massey is represented by a sophisticated voice, with clear enunciation. The recounting of conversations in childhood is told in a light voice with the heavily accented English of Liverpool and Wales. Diana Bishop’s narration, mixing voices and accents, recreates the tension of the author’s early life: stress during the bombings and the loneliness of being separated from home and family.
