BLOOD AND BONE

Boyd Gaines's narration capitalizes on Lashner's expertise in character development, making this offering a unique experience. Kyle Byrne is the illegitimate son of a lawyer who died more than a decade earlier. Now his father's former partner has been shot to death, and Kyle becomes a suspect. Gaines ably portrays the 20-something youth, as well as the sharp female cop who should have no interest in the young man but who, for some reason, is drawn to him. A twist midway through the story adds intrigue by bringing together a number of seemingly unconnected events.
