Two chemists research hormones that will affect behavior and enhance their own private pleasures. Lawrence Sanders writes in a first-person narrative for a diverse cast of characters, making this a wonderful choice for audio. Jay O. Sanders reads the male parts, and Sanders's wife, Maryann Plunkett, reads the female parts. She's especially persuasive in her portrayal of Mabel Brown, a neglected wife looking for love from any source. While multiple characters can become confusing, the tapes are divided into mini-sections, making this perfect for short trips. A scintillating tale by a best-selling author and recited by accomplished readers makes Private Pleasures a fantastic performance not easily forgotten.
