Michael Page portrays several types of characters with passion and intensity. Page has a shrill and strident voice that is foreboding and threatening for the witch. For the ape He uses a mystical and bewitching tone that speaks with sneering disdain for all humans. He is bloodthirsty, guttural and curdling when he portrays monstrous scaly men who fight with the dark side. This second book in the Lord of the Isles series will be enjoyable for those who enjoy fantasy and rousing, sword-blade action. Foreign-sounding names are difficult to understand.
