RED SKY AT NIGHT

This action-packed thriller is another in Hall’s Thorn series. Frank Muller conveys the author’s reverence for the Florida Keys with soft, slow tones. Muller’s descriptions persuade the listener to relax, feel the heat, admire the gumbo-limbo trees, and long for Thorn’s simple lifestyle. Muller then becomes brash in Thorn’s barroom confrontation over mutilated dolphins and quick-tongued when Thorn is confined to a wheelchair after an attack. He shifts easily from Thorn’s new love, Monica, a sensitive artist, to Pepper, a vampy doctor’s assistant. Muller magically differentiates characters with no dramatic alterations in his voice.
