FATAL UNDERTAKING

Fans of “Buryin’ Barry” will be pleased with this addition to the homey police procedural series. When Halloween ushers in real murders, daily life quickly becomes challenging for part-time sheriff/part-time funeral director Barry Clayton. The residents of Clayton's small town of Gainesboro provide plenty of comic diversions, complications, and ultimately, a killer. Narrator William Dufris, who has been the voice of several de Castrique novels, has a clear, fast-paced delivery that is equal to the plot, and his voice has a range that gives each character a clear identity. His realistic rendition of a North Carolina mountain accent adds authenticity and enhances the dialogue.
