SEVEN FOR A SECRET

An extra twist in the plot takes this story beyond the conventional Gothic novel so that there is an unusually bumpy path to "happily ever after." Donada Peters's mature, British voice is ideal for this recorded version of Victoria Holt. From her reading one can imagine the first-person story being recollected years afterward. She conveys the sense of foreboding when a sinister character is introduced and real panic when a dreadful event occurs. She brings to life the spoiled heiress, the practical aunt, the unbalanced nanny. This is a fine production and is a good choice for popular collections.
