Anne Flosnik does not disappoint as she recounts a wonderful romance set in the London after the French and Indian Wars. Wealthy colonist Samuel Hartley is instantly attracted to elegant Lady Emeline Gordon, a widow who is the sister of his friend and comrade, Captain Reynaud, killed in the war. When Hartley isn’t searching for the traitor who sent the Indians to fight against the 28th Regiment at Spinner's Falls, he’s courting Emeline. Flosnik deftly depicts steamy sex, male egos, and high-society scenes. Each chapter begins with a fragment of the fairy tale “Iron Heart,” which parallels the plot of the story. Hoyt’s new series, The Legend of the Four Soldiers, promises more romance in each installment, especially if read by the sensually voiced Flosnik.
