HERO The Life and Legend of Lawrence of Arabia

Thomas Edward Lawrence, aka Lawrence of Arabia, stood 5’ 5” tall and was blond and scholarly. Yet Mao, Ho Chi Minh, and Castro consulted his SEVEN PILLARS OF WISDOM, a book on war, as they planned their strategies. Narrator Robin Sachs manages to sound old-fashioned yet fresh and modern. Sadly, events and guerrilla warfare in the Middle East have changed little since Lawrence united Arab tribes against Turkey, becoming a WWI hero. Sachs perfectly captures the regal, adventurous yet humble manner that enabled Lawrence to both influence and blend in, depending upon the situation.
