SHOUT! THE BEATLES IN THEIR GENERATION

Part cultural history, part band biography and part social commentary, this is an excellent choice for audio. Edward Lewis's narration, however, is mediocre. The nasal tone of his voice, along with hurried pacing, gives the reading a nervous, jumpy quality. Personal quotes are not easily distinguished from narration, and, at times, uneven pausing makes it difficult to differentiate between interviewer and interviewee. Yet Lewis's diction and pronunciation are good, and his enthusiasm for the subject helps carry listeners through his more distracting vocal mannerisms.
