A certain suspension of disbelief is called for when an ex-wife is summoned to help the 10-year-old child of the union with a second wife. Phyllis Whitney fans will find this one of her weaker plots. Anna Fields's cast of characters gets confusing at times because Fields does not differentiate with enough precision. The book has a flaw that makes the reader falter several times. The child is named Jillian, and the wise and kind guru/gentleman is named Julian. Often, Fields reads one for the other. B.H.B. © AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: FEB/MAR 00]
