DIVING INTO THE WRECK

A character known only as Boss is a “wreck diver”: She seeks out abandoned spaceships and sometimes salvages them for money, but mostly she studies them as an amateur historian. When Boss and her crew find an ancient ship in a part of space where it simply should not be, she knows she’s stumbled on something big and very, very dangerous. Jennifer Van Dyck has a bright and lively voice, and she narrates at a quick pace. The story is a good old-fashioned space opera, but Van Dyck gives it some weight, turning it into a thoughtful look at history and what it can mean to individuals.
