N.T. Wright’s latest work is an excellent academic resource that offers a wonderful history of how the Bible has been understood by the church. Still, the author uses this as a platform to push his own controversial views. James Adams reads in the way one would expect of an academic work—dryly. It’s difficult to inject personality into a topic like this, but Adams does his best. Those who enjoy theological discussion will enjoy this production. However, this work would be best owned in print so the reader can take notes and look up resources as they are encountered. T.D. © AudioFile 2011, Portland, Maine [Published: OCTOBER 2011]
