A RUSH OF BLOOD

Having been promoted to chief constable, Scotsman Bob Skinner is dealing with one of the most sordid and complex crimes of his career. To further complicate matters, his daughter is personally involved with a crime family. Further, a group of ruthless Lithuanians is trafficking young women for the sex trade in Edinburgh. Narrator James Bryce presents the Scots and Lithuanians with distinctive accents and just the right emotions. He candidly portrays the members of Skinner's police team and their difficult jobs. Both author and narrator provide touches of gallows humor, more than are necessary, considering the disturbing subject matter. Most rewarding is a fiendishly clever conclusion.
