What a team. John Sandford's words, Richard Ferrone's voice. Powerful. Engaging. Frightening. Ferrone is in full command from the very first words. He attacks the novel with the slick skill of a radio horror show narrator. Rather than trying to force a distinct identity for key characters he relies on the natural strength of his voice to set a gripping, realistic and hard-edged tone to this grisly police story played out in the harsh landscape of mid-winter Minnesota. Tough, tender, thought-provoking. Ferrone's remarkable presentation style seems to magnify the wide range of human emotion laid before us by Sandford.
