ACTUAL INNOCENCE

by | Read by Michael Boatman

Contemporary Culture • 5 hrs. • Abridged • © 2000

Boatman (currently in ABC's “Spin City”) is an excellent reader. He offers a fascinating book, which is like a detective story in reverse: Lawyers Barry Scheck and Peter Neufeld find the innocent, rather than the guilty. The stories generate an emotional response as false imprisonment is a great injustice. Boatman seems to overdo it at times, however, characterizing sloppy lawyers and overzealous law enforcement officials with a bit too much contempt.
