THE TIDES OF MAINE

Breaking waves and shrieking gulls set the scene for this audio experience. The live recording of a trip from Virginia to the islands of Casco Bay, Maine, is reminiscent of the narrative portion of PBS's NATURE. A thought intrudes: "Where's the picture?" Our narrator/announcer is of the "gee-whiz" variety, happily exclaiming over surging seas, howling winds and the beauty of landfall at Jewell Island. In between, the biologists discuss the management of our ecosystem.
