ADVENTURE ACCORDING TO HUMPHREY

At Longfellow School in Room 26, Mrs. Brisbane has a lively class with a lively pet hamster, Humphrey. In this story the class focus is on the pirates and the high seas and on the waters of Potter’s Pond as the students work to build model boats. Humphrey narrates and has opinions on everyone and everything that happens. William Dufris vocalizes Humphrey with high animation. His voice squeaks with excitement, rises and falls with ocean waves, and gently empathizes with the characters’ feelings. Dufris creates distinct voices for all the characters—from imperious Mrs. Wright to enthusiastic Aldo the custodian and complaining, bossy classmates Richie and Kirk.
