TOUCHED BY THE DEAD

This is an interesting and different mystery from Barnard, who has written more than 30 books in the genre. It concerns a recently reelected British politician, who has become a junior minister in the new government. An anonymous postcard asks, "Who do you think you are?" This turns out to be a profound question, as his "parents” adopted him at birth. Answering the question becomes the minister's--and the listener's--main preoccupation in this effective suspense tale. Narrator Peter Barker is better with male than with female voices, but he gives each character a distinct voice and paces his narration to keep the suspense level high.
