Bohjalian's new novel is a fascinating and challenging view of relationships and gender. Using a transcript format, he presents events as NPR interviews and flashbacks. Judith Ivey doesn't amplify this highly original content and format. Her characterizations of the Banks family and Dana--their colleague, lover and friend--are uneven.
