A well-crafted abridgment and Dick Hill's sensitive narration combine to create a suspenseful production. Reclusive millionaire Quentin Fears, still haunted by the death of his sister when he was 11, falls into a whirlwind romance and marriage with Madeline Cryer, only to find that she is . . . A ghost? A force of evil? The well-developed characters are brought to life, with varied and interesting vocal personifications. Hill maintains the sense of unease and uncertainty throughout with vocal tone and pacing. Madeline's "family" is especially eerie, giving heightened meaning to the term "dysfunctional."
