The portrait of Chicago in START SHOOTING is down and dirty, teeming with violence. Set in a tough South Side neighborhood called Four Corners, where gangbangers rule and authorities are untouchable, the action is intense and nonstop. Narrator Serafin Falcon delivers the goods with a tone and cadence that match Newton’s dark story involving two brothers who are cops. Their childhood friend Arleen is an aspiring actress haunted by her long dead sister’s brutal rape and murder. Tish Hicks brings all of Arleen’s mixed emotions to life with her vivid portrayal.
