San Francisco Private Investigator Sharon McCone hits the shores of Kauai. Choppy abridgment leaves a number of holes in an otherwise entertaining and engaging story about a missing writer, a troubled film crew and the clash of Hawaiian and missionary cultures. When reading narration from the P.I.'s perspective, Bean's voice has a droning, mechanical precision. But when performing the lines of other characters, her talents blossom with rich character differentiation and a variety of believable accents.
