1812 The Navy's War

by | Read by Marc Vietor

History • 19 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2011

The War of 1812, between the U.S. and the British, is told from the perspective of the fledgling U.S. Navy. However, this book is really more a broad brush of the entire war and how the nascent U.S. Navy was actually responsible for the win. Marc Vietor does an adequate job with a straightforward narration. This is a relatively academic history; the underlying excitement of the story is bogged down by the use of overly formal nautical terminology. Vietor’s timing and pacing are perfectly aligned with the narrative style of the text. M.C. 2012 Audies Finalist © AudioFile 2012, Portland, Maine [Published: JUNE 2012]
