WHAT LOVE SEES

This is the story of Jane Treadway, blinded at age 12, and her husband, Gordon Holly, blinded at 20, and their life together running a ranch and brick-making factory, constructing buildings and raising four sighted children. Linda Stephens captures the anxiety, fears, elation and happiness of Jane and Gordon while they live their lives, determined not to be handicapped by their blindness. Stephens's characterizations are subtle as she differentiates child from adult, and male from female. The smoothly delivered narrative is interspersed with emotion-filled dialogue.
