Myers once again transports listeners to eighteenth-century Venice, where disgruntled opera singer Tito Amato loses his standing as top performer at the Teatro San Marco to an impressive newcomer. Once he knows of the murder of Luca Cavalieri, a well-known painter, he realizes he needs to find out who the killer is in order to regain his status. Geoffrey Blaisdell’s narration further enlivens the flamboyant characters and allows their Italian surroundings to come alive. He excels at portraying the distinct aspects of each character and his or her dialogue. Blaisdell’s Broadway-style performance captures all of Tito’s charisma in this Baroque mystery.
