THE WILD WEST

by | Read by Jack Palance & Charles Dean

Western • 6 hrs. • Unabridged • ©

These eight Western short stories provide an appealing anthology and include work by Twain, Harte, Hillerman, Brand and others. They depict different aspects of Western life and times--humor, bravery, adventure and carefully drawn character sketches. Jack Palance reads six of the stories with a deep, gravelly voice suited to the stories, but he uses little variety of tone, making the pieces more appealing individually than as a group. Charles Dean gives his stories a lighter touch but admirably capture the spirit of the rough frontier. Each cassette side has one complete story--a nice feature in lieu of an index or other ways of choosing a specific selection. R.F.W. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: JAN 94]
