Superb. As a capsule history, this is brilliantly written and exquisitely presented. Like all the programs in the Knowledge Products series, its format uses a narrator supported by well-chosen actors speaking the parts of key historical figures: Churchill, Stalin, Roosevelt, Truman, Chiang Kai Shek and many others. Several hours are devoted to historical background; then the conflict is described in its many theaters, blunders, tragedies and victories. Scott's intense voice drives the presentation so relentlessly that the listener can scarcely wait to hear what happens next. D.W.
