YOUR DAD'S A MONKEY

by | Read by Nigel Planer

Children • 2.25 hrs. • Unabridged • © 1989

Some books are better read aloud, and this silly story read by Nigel Planer is one of them. What would you do if your father moved the family into a tree, took to writing poetry up there and emptied his bath water on the park keeper's head? This is the uncomfortable predicament in which Robert finds himself. Planer adroitly portrays each character. George, the poetic visionary has a lofty manner. He substitutes "r" for "w" as consistently as he substitutes foolishness for sense. The park keeper rants, and Robert's mother moans and sighs. Robert alternates between rage and a stiff upper lip in the face of his parents' eccentricities. Planer conducts this orchestra of voices perfectly. He is never "ordinawy and borwing."
