ANTARCTIC ANTICS

This compilation of songs to accompany a children’s storybook (ages 4-8) would not ordinarily be reviewed in an audiobook magazine; it’s mostly all sung, is barely 20 minutes long, and Side B is identical to Side A, except without the buzzer to signal when to turn the page. However, these extravagant rhymes and goofball lyrics, and the dead-on parodies of Broadway show tunes, the Beach Boys, and We-Are-the-World-style choral anthems (including a terrific Bob Dylan imitation) are an adult pleasure that tickles the fancy, and never fails to lift the spirits.
