THE PROMETHEUS DECEPTION

by | Read by Paul Michael

Mystery & Suspense • 20 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2000

When the story begins, the listener expects a straightforward reading. That's because Paul Michael has an all-business approach, marred only by a slight nasal tone. But Michael's reading, like the plot, is deceptive. He offers the versatility needed in this ever-changing, fast-moving story. A college professor, formerly a deep-cover agent, is brought out of retirement by the knowledge that the top-secret U.S. outfit he worked for actually might have been controlled by a foreign power. In his search for the truth, the agent uncovers layer after layer of subterfuge and a scheme by a multinational organization to take over most of the civilized world. Michael's characters are wholly believable, and his pacing is first-rate. He complements Ludlum's style almost perfectly. A.L.H. © AudioFile 2001, Portland, Maine [Published: APR/MAY 01]
