Davis recreates the intoxicating atmosphere of the United States after World War II as servicemen and women return to prosperity and opportunity. Davis's literate, journalistic style translates well to the spoken word although some listeners may find the narrative too slow-moving to engage their interest throughout seven cassettes. This volume complete the author's autobiographical trilogy. Reader Kandinsky's voice and pacing are very well-matched to the material, and he nicely evokes the nostalgic quality of the text.
