There's nothing ordinary about Rich Orlow's narration of this literary mystery. Orlow seems to be giving his all to this sensitive coming-of-age story. Fifty-three-year-old Frank looks back on the events that occurred in his hometown in Minnesota when he was 13. First, there is the death of a young boy--and then the deaths of four other people. Frank, the son of a Methodist minister, must come to terms with a world that is falling apart and the place of God in that world. Orlow captures all the elements of the story--faith, wisdom, forgiveness, and even mysticism. He portrays the characters well and keeps the story moving, solidly evoking time and place. Krueger is mainly known for his Cork O'Connor series, but this is a stand-alone. A.L.H. © AudioFile 2013, Portland, Maine [Published: JULY 2013]
